Lynnhaven Presbyterian History
Lynnhaven Presbyterian Church was organized by the Norfolk Presbytery on June 17, 1917 and is the oldest Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach. The Rev. W.T.H. Squires of Norfolk Presbyterian was invited to preach to sixty Presbyterians of
the Lynnhaven community in Princess Anne County on October 22, 1916 and began conducting services in the “Temporary Hall” of the Lynnhaven Library Association. From this original group have come the ministries of Lynnhaven Presbyterian Church, as well as both the First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach and the Kings Grant Presbyterian Church. The church has come to occupy a strategic position in the spiritual life of Virginia Beach, and has maintained a family centered ministry with particular interest in ministry to the poor and homeless in surrounding communities. Many of the original families are still represented in the congregation today.
Our new sanctuary was dedicated to the Glory of God on April 22, 2006.
